Architecture in Leicester
As i grew up in Leicester, I see the architecture in Leicester old, boring and disgusting. however, looking into it in more detail has made me realize how different the architecture can be in different areas. We took a trip down Melton road and took a series of images of some types of Architecture that were there.
I did like a few buildings as the design of them were interesting eg. the Victorian windows, old factories and ugly shops.
On the other hand, most of the architecture didn't appeal to me. I found it quite dull as most of them were bricks, the walls were rotting which looked 'ugly' as well as the moss stairs and finally, it was all extremely old! You could tell from the styles of the buildings and the pillars that were around houses. Also, a lot of the windows were either boarded up/bricked up or they were the old fashioned windows which are uncommonly used now.
I chose this picture as it has leading lines drawing your eyes down the street. At the front of the picture the brick work is clear and in focused. Also you can see repetition of the windows as they are the same shape.
The picture has been taken from a low angle to make the building to look larger. The ridges in the wall make the chimney look 3D. There's a contrast between the walls and the sky.
